"I began suffering from lower back and hip pain about six years ago in my late 50's. The pain was so severe that I could barely move in the morning or drive for longer periods of time. About five years ago, I started going to a local gym to see if working out would help my condition. After some time working out on my own, I was not getting the relief I needed and searched for a highly educated trainer to help me. I found Zach Miller, who at the time was the Medical Fitness Specialist at a local hospital owned health club. He was a godsend!
After a movement assessment, he gave me a program that in a several months-time resulted in total pain relief.
Through working with Zach, I have gained muscle strength, flexibility, balance and improved posture.
I get up in the morning strong and pain-free and have no problems driving for longer periods of time anymore. I'm more confident in doing the things I love to do, like gardening and other hobbies.
Workouts are never boring, especially the ones Zach writes for me! They incorporate the use of my home, both inside and outside. I am very excited about the results I've received. I sought his help to prepare for spine surgery and he provided me with a program to strengthen the muscles around my neck as well as ease the after effects.
During our initial assessment I also mentioned my chronic problem with plantar fasciitis, which has restricted my activities for over 18 months. He listened to a description of my daily activities and assessed my stride / gait, then provided me with a few simple strategies he felt may address my issue. Within a week, my foot pain was minimal and after two weeks it was completely gone. "As a patient with Multiple Sclerosis, I have been working with Zach for about two years. I have right leg weakness due to MS, a foot drop, a leg length discrepancy, and balance problems. When I first started working with Zach, I had been through years of physical therapy and other treatments with only slight improvement. Last year I learned that I needed serious surgery, a triple arthrodesis, done to my deformed foot. This surgery would demand my being non-weight bearing on that leg for 72 weeks. I learned of Zach Miller's expertise as a movement specialist and personal trainer from my wife. I called Zach and arranged for specialized posture and strength training to help prepare me for the surgery and recovery of my foot.
Zach did an assessment and then set to work designing a program to prepare my body for the demand it would experience after surgery. I am stronger and more mobile overall!
I was able to follow his program strategy for several months before my surgery and now I am one week after my surgery. I am having almost no pain. I am able to use both crutches and to bend over without difficulty. I am able to take care of all my personal needs and even do some chores around the house. "I've begun hiking again!"
"Before working with Zach, I had a high level of pain in my legs and S/I joints. My gait was off balance, I hurt with every step and it was difficult to use stairs. My condition affected every aspect of my life: everyday tasks were difficult or impossible to accomplish, traveling to visit my family was problematic, and I was missing out on activities I previously enjoyed, such as hiking. When I accompanied my grandchildren to museums and amusement parks, I rented scooters in order to join them. I was very discouraged. Traditional physical therapy helped a little, but once Covid-19 hit, I wanted to expertise at home, online, and outside.
Zach assessed my movement and abilities virtually and in my back yard. He came up with a plan to strengthen my legs, stretch, and begin walking/standing different. The result has been amazing. My gait has improved dramatically — it’s normal most of the time. The pain level has decreased so much that I often am pain free when walking short distances. I’ve begun hiking again (up to an hour, so far) while implementing the strategies and techniques Zach taught me, including proper use of walking/hiking poles. Climbing stairs is easier as well.
While I will always have issues due to increasing arthritis in my back, Zach’s custom expertise and guidance has changed my life. "When I was first referred to Zach Miller by my husband, I mainly saw him because he is an aquatic specialist. He guided me toward improved fitness, movement, and flexibility in the pool.
Later I hired Zach to assess my hip pain, balance, and strength when we were stuck at home during Covid-19. I wanted to walk better, longer, and with less pain without going to a gym. Zach recommended something no one else has, walking poles. He explained that with the proper use of walking poles my gait would change, I would have better balance, improved posture, and would stop irritating my hip. "I started working with Zach Miller after I completed a course of physical therapy for a knee issue. The sessions were successful and I had achieved the goals of the therapy, but I had not reached the strength and flexibility levels I had previously or desired to have for the hiking and gardening hobbies I love. I was also diagnosed with a frozen shoulder close to that time. Zach has helped me to increase my flexibility, strengthen my knee and I’m almost back to the range of motion in my shoulder that I had before.

I am one year since three back surgeries that I had within a 12-month period. The surgeries (which culminated in an L4/L5 fusion), were a complete success, but I was in a considerable amount of chronic back pain. I could not bend over, walk or even tie my own shoelaces. I visited a Pain Management & Rehab specialist at the Christ Hospital and they recommended that I seek the help of Zach Miller.
Zach came to my home and studied my functional movements and began an immediate exercise regime for me. He recognized that my chronic pain all stemmed from a great deal of soft tissue, mobility & posture problems, that included weak atrophied muscles.
The exercises and stretches were easy to do and were greatly helped by the fact that Zach took pictures and gave me the pictures at the end of each session. I used these pictures during the between each session with Zach which helped me to understand technique and posture.
By my second session, I noticed a huge improvement with my comfort levels. By my fourth session, I can honestly say that I had extended periods that were pain free. I now understand what I need to do to continue with my rehab and know that I will once again get my life back to normal.
I cannot recommend Zach Miller enough. He is a wonderful gentleman that has an incredible gift and ability to communicate problems and resolutions. He monitors the most intricate of movements where a tiny adjustment is the difference between discomfort and full pain free ability.
